Power That Supports the Complete Guest Experience

A tourism power system must do more than keep the lights on. It may need to support accommodation, commercial kitchens, refrigeration, water treatment, communications, air conditioning, pools, laundries, workshops and staff facilities at the same time.

Power interruptions can affect guests immediately and create wider operational problems. A loss of supply may interrupt water pressure, wastewater treatment, food storage, booking systems, communications or site security. In a remote location, delays in accessing service support can make a minor issue much more disruptive.

We assess the complete operation before developing a solution, including:

  • Guest capacity, room numbers and seasonal occupancy
  • Daily energy use and peak demand periods
  • Air conditioning, heating and hot-water loads
  • Commercial kitchens, bars and refrigeration
  • Pools, pumps, laundries and water treatment
  • Desalination and wastewater systems
  • Staff accommodation and back-of-house facilities
  • Existing generators, fuel use and service history
  • Critical loads that must remain operational
  • Noise restrictions and guest-area separation
  • Site access, freight and construction constraints
  • Remote monitoring and local operator requirements
  • Planned extensions and future facilities

The result is a practical power system designed around how the property actually operates.

Power Solutions for Tourism Operations

Standalone Resort Power Systems

Complete off-grid systems combining solar generation, battery storage and generator backup. These systems can support small accommodation sites through to large resorts with multiple buildings and substantial operational loads.

Hybrid Solar, Battery and Generator Systems

Hybrid systems use solar and stored energy as the primary supply, with generators operating when additional capacity, battery charging or backup is required. Correct system design can reduce generator runtime, fuel deliveries, servicing and noise without compromising the property's power requirements.

Existing System Upgrades

Many tourism properties grow beyond the capacity of their original power system. We can assess existing solar, batteries, inverters, generators and electrical infrastructure, then develop a staged upgrade or replacement plan.

Upgrades may include:

  • Additional solar generation
  • Increased battery storage
  • Higher inverter capacity
  • Improved generator control and integration
  • Critical-load separation and load management
  • Replacement of ageing or unsupported equipment
  • Remote monitoring and alarm systems
  • Allowance for future accommodation or facilities

Containerised and Skid-Mounted Systems

Cabinet, skid and containerised power systems can be assembled and tested before delivery. This can reduce construction time on site, simplify remote deployment and provide a controlled equipment environment suited to the project's location.

Grid Support and Backup Power

Not every tourism property is completely off-grid. For sites with weak, restricted or unreliable grid supply, solar and battery storage can support site loads, manage demand and provide backup for essential services during outages.

Remote Monitoring and System Support

Remote monitoring provides visibility over solar production, battery state, generator activity, site demand and system alarms. This allows operational issues to be identified earlier and can reduce unnecessary service travel to isolated locations.

Applications

Our systems can be designed for:

  • Island resorts and coastal accommodation
  • Wilderness lodges and remote retreats
  • Eco-resorts and nature-based tourism
  • Safari camps and glamping facilities
  • Caravan parks and holiday parks
  • Farm stays and regional accommodation
  • Visitor centres and national park facilities
  • Remote restaurants, cellar doors and event venues
  • Staff villages and service buildings
  • Marinas and marine tourism facilities
  • South Pacific resorts and island communities
  • Resort expansions and new tourism developments

Designed Around Seasonal and Variable Loads

Tourism loads can change significantly throughout the day and across the year. A resort may move from low occupancy to full capacity within a short period, while kitchens, laundries, pools and air conditioning can create concentrated demand at particular times.

System sizing needs to account for more than average energy use. We consider:

  • Peak occupancy and event periods
  • Simultaneous operation of major equipment
  • Motor and compressor starting currents
  • Daytime and overnight load profiles
  • Seasonal solar conditions
  • Weather-related changes in heating or cooling demand
  • Minimum battery reserve requirements
  • Extended poor-weather operation
  • Generator loading and charging capacity
  • Planned rooms, amenities or facility upgrades

Where suitable, loads can be prioritised or controlled so essential services remain available while flexible equipment operates when solar production or battery capacity is available.

Off Grid Power Container

From Early Planning Through to Ongoing Support

MyEnergy can manage the complete power-system scope, including:

  1. Site and load assessment – Review bills, interval data, equipment schedules, generator records, occupancy and future plans.
  2. System engineering – Develop the power architecture, equipment selections, protection, controls, redundancy and expansion pathway.
  3. Operating-cost modelling – Compare capital cost, generator runtime, fuel use, servicing and expected operating savings.
  4. Prefabrication and testing – Assemble and test cabinets, skids or containerised systems before transport where practical.
  5. Installation and commissioning – Complete site works using our in-house electrical and installation teams.
  6. Training, monitoring and support – Provide operator guidance, remote visibility, fault support, servicing and future expansion.

We can deliver a complete power package or work within a broader construction and engineering team.

Why MyEnergy

Proven Remote Power Capability

MyEnergy Engineering has delivered off-grid and hybrid power systems across Australia and the South Pacific since 2010. Our experience includes residential systems, agricultural operations, remote tourism, industrial sites and large-scale infrastructure.

Award-Winning Resort Power Project

Our work includes the hybrid renewable energy system at Southern Ocean Lodge on Kangaroo Island, recognised as the 2024 National Clean Energy Project of the Year. The project combined a large solar array, battery storage, multiple inverters and generator backup to support a premium remote resort in a demanding coastal environment.

Complete In-House Delivery

Design, cabinet construction, electrical installation, commissioning and ongoing support are handled by our own team. This provides clear responsibility from initial design through to operation.

Systems That Can Grow

Remote sites rarely remain static. We design with realistic allowances for additional accommodation, machinery, pumping, processing or other future loads, giving the system a clear pathway for expansion.

Generator Integration Experience

Generators remain an important part of many remote systems. We design the solar, battery, generator and controls as one operating system, with attention to starting, transfer, charging, loading and recovery behaviour.

Long-Term Product Support

We select equipment based on reliability, compatibility and ongoing support. MyEnergy is a long-standing Victron Energy distributor and service agent, with experience across a broad range of commercial battery, inverter, solar and generator platforms.

Project Experience

Our completed projects range from compact standalone power cabinets through to large hybrid systems supporting premium island accommodation and critical infrastructure.

At Southern Ocean Lodge, the system combines extensive solar generation, flow battery storage, Victron inverter capacity, Fronius solar inverters and multiple Caterpillar generators. The design was developed to support resort operations while reducing dependence on generator power in a remote coastal location.

This experience gives our team a practical understanding of the operational, logistical and technical demands involved in powering remote tourism properties.
