Remote System Monitoring
Stay Connected to Your Power System
Remote monitoring provides visibility over how your solar, battery, inverter and generator system is operating, whether the site is nearby or hundreds of kilometres away.
MyEnergy Engineering supplies and configures remote monitoring for off-grid and grid-connected power systems. It allows system performance, energy production, battery condition and faults to be reviewed without waiting for the next site visit.
Monitoring for Off-Grid Power Systems
For an off-grid property or remote operation, early warning of a developing issue can be critical. Monitoring can show battery state of charge, solar production, inverter loads, generator operation and current alarms in one place.
This information helps identify unusual energy use, poor solar production, generator starting issues or declining battery performance before they result in a loss of power. Where remote access is available, many settings and faults can also be reviewed without immediately sending someone to site.
Grid-Connected Solar and Battery Monitoring
Remote monitoring can also provide a clearer view of grid-connected solar and battery systems. It can show solar generation, site consumption, battery charging and discharging, grid import and export, and backup system status.
For commercial sites, this data can help identify peak demand, unexpected loads and changes in operating patterns. For residential systems, it provides a simple way to understand where power is coming from and how stored energy is being used.
What Can Be Monitored
Depending on the installed equipment and communications available, monitoring may include:
- Solar generation and energy yield
- Battery state of charge and operating condition
- Inverter output and site loads
- Generator starts, runtime and fuel-related alarms
- Grid import, export and outages
- System warnings, faults and communications status
The monitoring platform and level of access are selected to suit the system, the site and the information that matters most to the owner or operator.
Remote Fault Support
When a fault occurs, monitoring data gives our team a better starting point. We can review alarms, operating history and current system conditions to help determine whether the issue can be resolved remotely or requires a site visit.
This can reduce unnecessary travel, improve response times and allow the correct parts or equipment to be prepared before attending remote locations. Monitoring does not replace planned servicing, but it provides valuable information between visits.
Communications for Remote Locations
Remote monitoring requires a reliable communications connection. Depending on the location, this may use an existing internet service, mobile network, satellite connection or a dedicated communications arrangement.
MyEnergy can consider the communications requirements as part of the original system design or add monitoring to a suitable existing installation. For remote sites, we also consider connection reliability, data use and what happens when communications are temporarily unavailable.
Monitoring New and Existing Systems
Monitoring can be included with a new MyEnergy power system or added to many existing off-grid and grid-connected installations. Compatibility will depend on the inverter, battery, generator controls, metering and communications equipment already installed.
We can review the existing system and recommend a practical monitoring setup, including any additional meters, gateways, sensors or communications hardware required.
Discuss Remote Monitoring for Your System
Send us the site location, system details and information about the available internet, mobile or satellite connection. If the system is already installed, photos and equipment model numbers will help us assess compatibility.
