Alano Utilities is the sewerage network provider for the Mount Barker, Wallaroo and Two Wells regions in South Australia. This off grid power project was for a new Alano Utilities water treatment plant located in Callington, where the property has no grid connection despite being just 20 km from the township of Mount Barker. Unlike typical commercial properties, a water treatment plant requires continuous, high-energy output to support essential water movement and filtration processes.
Off Grid Power System Built in a Shipping Container
MyEnergy Engineering were selected to design a fully tailored off grid power system to meet these specific needs. The system was built within a 20-foot insulated and air-conditioned shipping container, it was built at MyEnergy HQ and then transported to the site. Once onsite, our team installed and connected an extensive ground-mounted solar array, utilising 99.6kW of Jinko Solar panels.
To meet the treatment plant's continuous energy demands, we installed a substantial 96kWh Pylontech lithium battery system inside the shipping container, designed for easy future expansion.

This off-grid power system delivers reliable, consistent energy tailored to the operational demands of the water treatment plant, ensuring critical infrastructure continues to perform without interruption. Designed and built by MyEnergy, with all works delivered by our in-house team, the system reflects a proven approach to supplying power in locations where no suitable dwelling or infrastructure exists to house equipment.
The project was recognised at the 2025 Master Electricians Australia Industry Excellence Awards, receiving 'Highly Commended' for Clean Energy Project of the Year – Commercial Project Under $1M. This recognition reflects the scale and quality of the solution delivered for a critical remote infrastructure application.
