Kingscote is the largest town on Kangaroo Island and is connected to the electricity grid. However, its regional island location can leave homes vulnerable to power interruptions and blackouts. For local homeowners, solar and battery storage provides a way to store excess solar for use later, reduce reliance on mains electricity and maintain backup power when the grid goes down.

The MyEnergy team recently completed a grid-connected home solar and battery system at a residential property in Kingscote, designed around the home’s everyday power requirements and the need for reliable backup power. The new system combines 9.5kW of JA Solar panels with an 8kW single-phase Deye All-In-One hybrid inverter and 20kWh of Deye low-voltage battery storage.
Installed using a Schletter roof mounting system on the roof of the home, the solar array generates power throughout the day to supply the home and charge the battery. Excess solar can then be stored for use later in the day, overnight or when grid power is unavailable.
The Deye All-In-One provides a compact solution for residential solar and battery installations, bringing the inverter and battery system together in a clean, streamlined setup while providing valuable backup capability.
