system croped brighteendFreshwater Creek is a rural spot in Victoria’s Surf Coast region, located just outside Geelong and only a short drive from the Great Ocean Road. Known for its farming properties, open landscapes and growing number of lifestyle developments, the area continues to attract property owners looking to build larger homes and agricultural infrastructure away from built-up areas. However, many of these rural properties are located well beyond practical grid connection points, making off grid power the most reliable long-term solution.

Off Grid Power for a Growing Farming Property

image (1)At this Freshwater Creek farming property, the owners had recently completed construction of a new industrial-sized shed on their 52-hectare property while also nearing completion of a large new home build. With both projects progressing simultaneously, the property required a dependable off grid power system capable of supporting construction activities, workshop equipment, agricultural operations and future household energy demands.

Given the scale of the development and the property’s rural location, the owners chose to install a standalone off grid power system designed to provide reliable electricity from day one, while also allowing flexibility as the property’s energy requirements continue to grow over time.

Off Grid Power Solution

MyEnergy remotely designed the off grid power system around the property layout, shed infrastructure and projected energy usage requirements. The entire system was installed within the new industrial shed, creating a dedicated central location for all off grid power equipment.

The system is built around two Victron MultiPlus-II 48/10000/140-100 inverters, delivering a combined 20kVa inverter capacity suitable for both residential and agricultural applications, with the system also integrated with a Fronius inverter to support solar generation and overall energy management. Energy storage is provided by 51.20kWh of ZYC Energy SIMPO lithium battery storage, housed within a dedicated ZYC Energy Battery Cabinet.

The shed roof supports 20.9kW of Aiko Energy solar panels mounted using a Schletter roof mount system, helping maximise solar generation across the property. Solar charging is managed through a Victron SmartSolar MPPT RS 450/200-MC4 charge controller, while system monitoring and control are handled through a Victron Cerbo GX. The system is also integrated with a Himoinsa generator, providing backup power when required during extended periods of low solar production or increased demand.
