Off Grid Power System in Quorn, South Australia.

Solar Panel Shed Roof-mount Array
MyEnergy designed and installed an off grid power system for a remote property in Quorn, a historic railway town in the Flinders Ranges, South Australia. Originally established in the 1870s as a key transport hub for the region, Quorn still reflects the challenges of remote living today, including access to reliable power where there is no grid connection.
Delivering Reliable Off Grid Power
The system features 21.12kW of solar panels, providing ample energy generation to meet the property’s needs. Paired with 28.5kWh of battery storage, it ensures reliable power for continuous operation, even during periods of low sunlight. The AC/DC-coupled design enhances efficiency and an air conditioning unit (which was also installed by our skilled electricians) maintains optimal temperature to ensure smooth performance.
A 10kVa diesel generator was installed at the rear of the property’s shed to provide a dependable backup during periods of high energy demand or prolonged cloudy weather, complementing the solar and battery system.
Key Components of this Off Grid Power System:
- Victron Quattro 48/10000
- Victron SmartSolar MPPT RS450/100 (X2)
- Victron GX Touch 70
- Victron Energy Meter ET112 - 1 Phase - Max 100A
- Fronius Primo 8.2-1 Inverter
- 28.5kWh Pylontech Battery
- 21.12kW Trina Vertex Solar Panels
- Outreach Power 10kVa Single Phase Diesel Generator
Reliable Power Where the Grid Isn’t an Option
This project in Quorn highlights how a well-designed off-grid power system can deliver consistent, reliable energy in even the most remote locations. By combining solar generation, battery storage, and backup support, the system is built to handle the property’s day-to-day demands while allowing for future growth. It’s a practical example of how tailored off-grid solutions can provide long-term reliability where the grid simply isn’t an option.
