Located on the northern coastline of Kangaroo Island, Nepean Bay is known for its sheltered waters, rural landscapes and relaxed island lifestyle. While the island's main townships have access to the electricity grid, many surrounding rural properties rely on off-grid power systems.
Reliable Off-Grid Power
For this project, MyEnergy worked with property owners who had recently purchased a block of land at Nepean Bay. A newly constructed shed was the first build on the property, however with no mains electricity available, the owners required a reliable off-grid power system to supply the site from day one, while allowing capacity for future expansion.
Built for the Challenges of Island Logistics
Delivering projects on Kangaroo Island requires careful planning, with all major equipment and materials transported via the island's single vehicle ferry. To ensure the installation ran smoothly, MyEnergy coordinated the delivery of every system component to site before building the off-grid power system on a dedicated power wall inside the newly constructed shed. The 6.65kW Aiko Solar array was then installed on the shed roof using the Schletter Roof Mount System.
The system features a Victron MultiPlus-II inverter, Victron SmartSolar Charge Controller, Victron Cerbo GX and GX Touch 70 monitoring system. Combined with 20.48kWh of ZYC Energy lithium battery storage, the system delivers reliable off grid power with the flexibility to expand as the property's energy requirements grow.
