Burra is a historic mining town in South Australia’s Mid North, recognised for its copper heritage and pastoral history. While the town itself has grid access, new dwellings on larger rural properties often sit too far from existing supply points, meaning they require their own dedicated off grid solar system from the start.

New Build Off Grid Solar Requirements

For these property owners, a newly built shed at the rear of the property required its own dependable off grid solar system. MyEnergy worked directly from the owners’ building plans to design the off grid solar system and panel layout in advance, ensuring the shed build and power installation aligned smoothly. With the system pre-designed around the shed footprint and usage requirements, we were ready to power the new structure from day one.

Scalable Off Grid Solar

To streamline installation, MyEnergy designed and built the full off grid solar system at MyEnergy HQ, housed in a vermin and weather-proof aluminium cabinet. Once fully tested and certified, the system was transported to Burra and installed efficiently alongside the newly built shed. The 8.8kW solar array of JA Solar Panels were mounted directly to the shed roof using a Schletter Roof Mount System.

Built for the conditions of the Mid North, heat and dust, the system features an 8kVA Victron MultiPlus-II inverter, Victron SmartSolar Charge Controller, Victron Cerbo GX and Touch 70 for monitoring. Paired with 15.36kWh of ZYC SIMPO battery storage, this standalone power system provides reliable off grid solar from day one, with the capacity to scale as the property’s needs evolve. A 10A inlet was also installed on the system, for future generator connectivity.
