Commercial Solar & Battery System for a Historic Adelaide Building

In the heart of the Adelaide CBD, a major redevelopment is underway at one of the city’s most historic venues, the heritage-listed Producers Hotel. A hotel has stood on this site since Adelaide was first founded, originally licensed to John Ragless Jr as The Woodman, serving teamsters carting timber from the Adelaide Hills.

As the city grew, the hotel evolved, adopting new names that reflected its surroundings, The Electric Light Hotel and later The Producers Hotel due to it's proximity to the East End markets. Built in the Queen Anne style with terracotta tiles, decorative gables, and ornate verandah trim, it remains a distinctive Grenfell Street landmark. Its long history mirrors Adelaide’s growth from a colonial town to a thriving city now embracing a new future powered by a commercial solar system.
The Need for a Modern Commercial Solar System
After years of closure, the Producers Hotel is being transformed by a property developer who aims to restore its heritage charm while creating a modern commercial space. To bring this redevelopment into the present day, energy efficiency and reliability were critical considerations. The building required a modern power supply capable of handling varied business operations and future expansion. Early in the renovation process, the developers brought MyEnergy into the planning stage to design and install a commercial solar system that would complement the site’s heritage. The result would be a power solution that not only supports the building’s new commercial tenants but also ensures long-term energy efficiency and operational cost savings.
A Future-ready Commercial Solar System
The MyEnergy solution is a future-proof commercial solar system engineered to provide reliable power for any business within the redevelopment, for now and into the future, with the flexibility to scale as demand grows and maintain supply in the case of a power blackout. The installation includes 29.04kW of Trina Solar Panels mounted securely using a Schletter roof mount system, specifically chosen to protect the roof structure while ensuring long-term stability. The panels are paired with a Deye 25kW three-phase HV Battery Hybrid Inverter to efficiently manage energy generation and storage. Supported by 40.96kWh of Pylontech Force H3 batteries, the system delivers consistent power availability and backup capability. This integrated commercial solar system is designed to meet the complex demands of commercial and hospitality operations while reducing reliance on the grid.
