Understanding Your BSL Batteries

Everyday operation, alarms and care for your BSL battery system.

Start with the model on your battery label. BSL / BSLBATT makes different battery families. The settings, indicator patterns and operating limits for one model may not apply to another.

Everyday operation

BSL lithium batteries work with the inverter to store and supply energy. Their battery management system (BMS) can restrict charging or discharge when it detects a condition outside the permitted operating range. A pause in charging does not, by itself, confirm a failed battery.

Use your MyEnergy handover information for the normal operating mode and reserve level at your property. Do not copy charging voltages or battery profiles from another installation.

If an alarm appears

  1. Record the exact message and when it started. Photograph the inverter display and the front of the affected battery.
  2. Note whether one module or the whole bank shows the issue, and whether lights are steady or flashing.
  3. Check your monitoring display for charge level, solar production and household or site load. Turn off non-essential large appliances using their normal controls.
  4. Check from outside the enclosure for blocked ventilation, water ingress or obvious damage. Do not open covers or touch cables.
  5. Send the information to MyEnergy if the alarm persists, returns or the system has stopped supplying power.

Do not repeatedly reset the batteries, unplug communications cables, change address switches or connect an external charger. Recovery and configuration need to match the exact BSL model and inverter.

Reading battery and inverter information together

Check the monitoring timestamp before interpreting a reading. An offline app may be displaying old information while the equipment continues operating. Compare the app with the accessible local display and record both if they disagree.

Record the full BSL model and serial number, the number of modules, the inverter make and model, and the lights on each affected module. If one module looks different, photograph the whole bank as well as the individual unit so the support team can understand the arrangement.

Common customer questions

Why is the bank charging slowly? Check how much power the site is using, how much charging power is available, and whether a reserve, schedule or battery limit is active. A charger rating is a maximum capability, not a promise of continuous charging at that rate.

Can I use another battery brand beside BSL? Treat this as a system design change. MyEnergy needs to assess the battery combination, communications, protection and inverter support before any addition.

Can I turn off a module that shows an alarm? Ask MyEnergy for the correct procedure first. Module switching and restart sequences depend on the installation and the cause of the alarm.

Care, time away and expansion

Keep the approved battery area clear and dry. Ask us for a storage or shutdown plan before leaving equipment isolated for a long period. Adding modules needs a compatibility and commissioning check; matching the brand name alone is not enough.

Manuals and warranty

Use the BSLBATT document library for your exact model. Keep your invoice, installation date and serial numbers. Warranty terms depend on the product and supply date; ask MyEnergy to confirm the applicable documents.
