Battery Alarms, Protection and Missing Modules
Safe observations to make when a battery shows an alarm or part of the bank goes offline.
Record the message before attempting a reset. An alarm may come from the battery, inverter or monitoring equipment. Similar messages can have different causes, and the correct recovery process depends on the installed model.
First, check for an immediate hazard
If you see smoke, fire or signs of a dangerous battery failure, move people away and call 000. Do not approach the equipment to take photographs or operate switches. If you notice damage, water exposure, swelling, leakage, unusual heat or a strong smell without an immediate emergency, keep clear and contact MyEnergy for advice.
Collect useful information from a safe position
- Record the full alarm text or code and the time it first appeared.
- Photograph accessible displays and indicator lights without opening covers.
- Note the full battery model and whether one module or the whole bank appears affected.
- Record battery percentage, charging sources and any large appliances running.
- Check whether the app timestamp is current. If it is offline, note what the accessible local display shows.
What protection means
A battery management system can restrict operation when its limits are reached. Temperature, electrical conditions and communication problems may need different responses. Do not assume a protection message can be cleared safely by restarting the battery.
Use normal appliance controls to reduce non-essential demand where appropriate. Leave battery switches, isolators, wiring, communication leads and settings alone until MyEnergy gives instructions for your installation.
If one module is missing
A missing module in monitoring is a reason to investigate, rather than proof that the module has failed. Capture the displayed module count and note any different indicator pattern. Avoid trying to reconnect cables, change module addresses or add a replacement yourself.
Contact MyEnergy promptly if part of the bank remains unavailable, an alarm repeats, the system shuts down or the available runtime changes substantially. Also contact us promptly after deep discharge so the battery is not left in that state.
Send the right details for support
Submit a MyEnergy support request with the observations above, your site or order details and any recent work or changes to the system. Call 1300 706 870 if you need help identifying the next step.
