Handing Over Your System to a New Owner or Tenant
A practical checklist for moving house, changing tenants or handing responsibility to a new site contact.
A clear handover helps the next person use the power system safely and keep support and monitoring details current.
Pass on the system information
- Installation and handover documents, equipment manuals and site-specific operating instructions.
- A list of equipment models, warranty records and available maintenance history.
- Which circuits have backup power, the normal battery reserve and any load limits.
- Generator fuel, automatic-operation and servicing requirements, if fitted.
- MyEnergy support details and any current faults or planned work.
Show the new contact where the user display and labelled shutdown instructions are located. Do not demonstrate internal controls, wiring changes or a shutdown unless it forms part of an approved handover procedure.
Arrange monitoring access
Contact MyEnergy before the changeover and ask how to transfer or update access for your monitoring platform. Use separate accounts for each authorised person. Do not hand over a personal email login, password or security code, and do not assume changing a billing contact automatically transfers monitoring access.
Tell us the changeover date and who will be responsible for the site. We may need to confirm authority before updating access. Review old users' access as part of the agreed changeover.
Keep the system connected
If the internet router or Wi-Fi details will change, plan the monitoring reconnection. Keep power to the system and monitoring equipment unless MyEnergy has provided a different site-specific instruction. See Connecting the System to a New Internet Service.
Confirm responsibilities
Agree who will check alarms, arrange servicing, maintain generator fuel and contact support. Confirm any warranty transfer requirements with MyEnergy or the manufacturer; transferring the property does not automatically establish every product's warranty conditions.
