Grid-Connected System Checks and Ongoing Care
Practical checks for low solar output, warnings and changed behaviour, plus the information that helps MyEnergy investigate.
A change in output deserves a closer look, but one low reading is not enough to diagnose a fault. Start with the weather, time of day and system status, then compare with your own recent history.
Solar generation looks low
Check whether the app is current and whether you are reading generation rather than exports. Cloud, seasonal sun angles and new shading can reduce output. Compare several similar days where possible. For a consistent drop in good conditions, see Solar Production Appears Low and send MyEnergy the relevant graphs.
The inverter shows a warning
Record the exact message, when it appeared and whether the property still has mains power. Take a photo from a safe position. Do not clear fault history, change protection settings or repeatedly restart equipment before we have reviewed the issue. Follow only the shutdown or restart procedure supplied for your specific installation.
The battery behaves differently
Check charge level, reserve, schedules and any displayed alarm together. See Battery Alarms, Protection and Missing Modules. Include any recent changes to your tariff program, equipment or operating settings in your support request.
Routine care
- Review monitoring regularly and retain useful examples of normal operation.
- Keep access to equipment clear and maintain the ventilation and clearances specified at installation.
- From ground level, look for new shading or obvious damage. Do not climb onto the roof or touch cables and connectors.
- Arrange professional inspection and cleaning in line with the equipment instructions and site conditions.
Electrical repairs and internal inspections belong with appropriately qualified professionals. Solar equipment may remain energised even when mains power is off.
Prepare a useful support request
Tell us what changed, when it started, whether it is continuous or intermittent, and what equipment or large loads were operating. Include site details, model names, alarm photos and dated monitoring screenshots. If the issue followed a storm, electrical work or an internet change, mention that too.
For smoke, fire or an immediate threat to safety, stay clear and call 000. Do not approach damaged or flooded equipment to collect photos.
