Why the Generator May Start Unexpectedly
Your generator may start automatically even when the batteries do not appear completely flat.
Common reasons include:
- Battery state of charge has reached the programmed start level.
- Property demand is higher than the inverter or batteries can supply comfortably.
- Solar production has been low due to weather or time of day.
- Battery voltage has dropped quickly under a large load.
- The system is completing a scheduled generator exercise.
- The generator has been started manually through the monitoring platform.
- The system is protecting the batteries from discharging too far.
Large loads such as air conditioning, pumps, ovens or EV charging can also trigger the generator, particularly when battery levels are already low.
The generator may continue running until the battery reaches its programmed stop level or the minimum run time has been completed.
Contact MyEnergy if the generator starts repeatedly, runs for unusually long periods or starts while the batteries appear well charged.
