Using a Generator with Your MyEnergy Deye System
Customer checks for an installed generator and what to do if it runs without charging the battery.
Applies only where MyEnergy has installed and commissioned a compatible generator connection. A Deye inverter does not mean any portable generator can be plugged into the system.
Normal generator operation
Your generator may be configured to start automatically when battery energy is low or under other site-specific conditions. It may continue running to complete charging or a cool-down period. Use the thresholds and operating instructions in your handover pack.
Where automatic operation is part of your installation, leave the generator controller in the agreed mode. Tell anyone working near the generator that it can start automatically.
What to check from the user controls
- Check the battery percentage and current property load.
- Check the generator display for an alarm and note its operating mode.
- Check the fuel indication and whether scheduled servicing is due.
- If the generator is running, check whether the inverter shows generator input and whether the battery is charging.
Make fuel, oil and service checks only as described in the generator manual. Do not refuel a running or hot generator. Keep exhaust outdoors and away from doors, windows and occupied areas.
The generator is running but the battery is not charging
The generator may be supplying property loads, waiting for the input to be accepted or operating while charging is limited. It may also have a fault. Reduce non-essential demand and record both displays. Contact MyEnergy if the behaviour is unexpected.
Do not raise voltage, bypass an alarm, change inverter input limits or operate changeover switches by trial and error. A running engine does not prove that acceptable power is reaching the inverter.
If the generator will not start
Conserve battery energy, record the controller alarm and contact MyEnergy. Avoid repeated start attempts. Only use a manual start if your site instructions allow it and the generator is safe to run. Never connect a generator through a normal power outlet.
