Understanding Your Pylontech Batteries
Pylontech US2000, US3000 and US5000 batteries store solar energy for use overnight, during poor weather or when property demand exceeds current solar production.
Each battery includes an internal battery management system that monitors voltage, current and temperature. It can limit or stop charging and discharging to protect the battery from overcharge, excessive discharge, high current and unsuitable temperatures.
The information below applies generally to the Pylontech US2000, US3000 and US5000 ranges. Exact operating limits may vary slightly between models and system configurations.
Normal Battery Operating RangesThe battery state of charge will rise and fall throughout the day.
As a general guide:
- 60–100%: Normal operating range
- 40–60%: Monitor solar production and power use
- 20–40%: Reduce unnecessary loads
- 10–20%: Low battery level
- Below 10%: The system may shut down to protect the batteries
Newer US2000C, US3000C and US5000 models can provide up to 95% depth of discharge when used with compatible equipment and the correct communication settings. MyEnergy may configure a higher minimum state of charge to improve reliability and maintain a battery reserve.
Battery State of Charge ExplainedState of charge, or SOC, is the estimated amount of usable energy remaining in the battery.
The battery level is affected by:
- Solar production
- Property power use
- Weather and season
- Generator or grid charging
- Battery size and condition
- Large appliances operating together
When the batteries fall below 40%, start monitoring power use. Below 20%, avoid non-essential loads such as EV charging, air conditioning, electric hot water and pool equipment until charging is available.
The battery percentage may occasionally adjust as the battery management system recalculates the available capacity.
Battery Shutdown and RecoveryThe batteries may enter protection mode or shut down due to:
- Very low state of charge
- Excessive electrical demand
- High or low temperature
- Overcurrent or short circuit
- Communication problems
- An inverter or battery fault
If the system shuts down:
- Turn off large and non-essential appliances.
- Check whether solar, generator or grid charging is available.
- Check the inverter and batteries for alarms.
- Confirm the generator has fuel and is ready to start.
- Contact MyEnergy if the system does not recover.
A fully discharged Pylontech battery should be recharged promptly. The manufacturer’s manuals state that it should be recharged within 12 hours after full discharge. Do not repeatedly reset the batteries or change inverter settings unless instructed by MyEnergy.
Battery AlarmsPylontech batteries normally include:
- A green RUN light showing operating status
- A red ALM light showing an alarm or protection condition
- Green lights showing the approximate state of charge
A flashing red alarm light generally indicates an alarm, while a solid red light can indicate that the battery has entered protection mode.
If an alarm appears:
- Record any fault code.
- Take photos of the battery and inverter displays.
- Check the battery percentage.
- Reduce large electrical loads.
- Check whether charging is available.
- Contact MyEnergy if the alarm remains active.
Do not remove covers, disconnect battery cables or operate internal controls.
Temperature LimitsOperating temperatures vary slightly between models.
For the US2000C and US3000C:
- Charging: 0°C to 50°C
- Discharging: -10°C to 50°C
For the US5000:
- Charging: 0°C to 55°C
- Discharging: -10°C to 55°C
The preferred operating range is approximately 10°C to 40°C. Repeated exposure to high or low temperatures can reduce performance and battery life. Batteries should be kept dry, shaded and protected from direct sunlight, water, conductive dust and corrosive environments.
Long-Term StorageDo not shut down or isolate the battery system for an extended period without contacting MyEnergy.
For long-term storage:
- Keep the batteries dry and protected from direct sunlight.
- Store them in a suitable temperature-controlled environment.
- Recharge them at least every six months.
- Charge them above 90% during storage maintenance.
- Do not use an external battery charger unless approved.
The system should normally be left operating when the property is unattended, with unnecessary loads turned off and the generator available.
Warranty RequirementsThe Australian Pylontech US Series warranty covers the US2000, US3000, US2000C, US3000C, US5000 and US5000-B.
The warranty period is 10 years, beginning from the earlier of:
- The installation date, or
- Six months after the manufacturing date
The warranty defines minimum capacity as at least 60% of nominal energy during the warranty period.
To help maintain warranty coverage:
- Keep your invoice and installation records.
- Retain the battery serial numbers.
- Register the batteries where required.
- Use compatible and approved inverter equipment.
- Keep the batteries indoors or in an approved enclosure.
- Operate and maintain the system according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Do not relocate, modify or repair the batteries without approval.
- Keep monitoring and system log information available.
- Report suspected faults promptly.
Warranty exclusions can include unsuitable installation conditions, water damage, direct sunlight, incompatible equipment, unauthorised repairs, incorrect settings, mixed battery types and operation outside recommended temperature limits.
Warranty assessment, travel and call-out charges may apply where no product fault is found or the issue is outside warranty coverage.
