Managing Large Electrical Loads

Large electrical loads can place significant demand on your inverter and batteries, particularly when several appliances operate at the same time.

Common high-demand loads include:

  • Air conditioners
  • Electric ovens and cooktops
  • Hot water systems
  • Pool and bore pumps
  • Welders and workshop equipment
  • EV chargers
  • Large refrigeration equipment
How to Manage Power Use

Where possible:

  • Run large appliances during daylight hours when solar production is strongest.
  • Avoid starting several large loads at the same time.
  • Delay EV charging, pool pumps and hot water heating when battery levels are low.
  • Monitor the property load through your system monitoring platform.
  • Reduce non-essential power use during poor weather or overnight.

Some equipment can draw a high starting current, even if its normal running load is lower. This can cause the inverter to overload or shut down.

Battery Levels

Take extra care with large loads when the battery is below 40%.

Below 20%, avoid non-essential high-demand appliances until solar, grid or generator charging is available.
