Generator Exercise Cycles

A generator exercise cycle is a scheduled test run that helps keep the generator ready for automatic backup operation.

During an exercise cycle, the generator may start even when the batteries are well charged and no additional power is required.

The cycle helps:

  • Check the generator starts correctly
  • Maintain the starter battery
  • Circulate oil and coolant
  • Identify faults before backup power is needed
  • Prevent problems caused by long periods without use

Exercise cycles are usually programmed to run at set intervals for a limited time. Depending on the system setup, the generator may run with or without supplying power to the property.

Keep the generator fuelled, serviced and set to automatic mode.

Contact MyEnergy if the generator fails to start, displays an alarm or continues running longer than expected.
