Deye Backup Power: What Happens During a Blackout?

Know which circuits stay on, how to conserve battery power and what to do if backup stops.

Backup is installation-specific. Your Deye system can supply only the circuits connected and configured for backup, within the inverter and battery limits. Confirm these circuits in your handover pack.

When the grid goes off

A correctly configured backup system changes to its backup supply when available. Some appliances may briefly interrupt or restart. A battery system is not a guarantee of uninterrupted power for medical or other critical equipment; those loads need a separately assessed backup arrangement.

What to do

  1. Check your electricity distributor’s outage information if you can.
  2. Check the inverter display for an alarm, battery percentage and load.
  3. Turn off non-essential appliances using their normal controls. Avoid starting several large loads together.
  4. Check only the circuits identified as backed up. Other circuits remaining off may be expected.
  5. Watch battery use during a prolonged outage and conserve power for essential loads.

Solar may help support the property and recharge the battery during an outage, if your system is designed for it and sufficient sunlight is available. A separate grid-connected solar inverter may stop during an outage. Do not assume all solar remains available.

How long will the battery last?

As a rough illustration, 8 kWh of energy available for backup at an average 1 kW load is about eight hours before allowing for losses. Actual runtime varies with reserve settings, battery condition, sunlight and changing loads. The battery percentage alone does not give a reliable runtime.

If backup power stops

Reduce non-essential loads and record any alarm. Low battery charge, an overload or a fault may stop backup. Do not repeatedly reset breakers or restart the system. Follow your site procedure and contact MyEnergy if power does not recover.

When grid power returns, the system may wait while checking the supply before reconnecting. Do not alter grid protection settings to shorten this delay.
