Koonda is a small rural locality in northern Victoria, positioned between Bendigo and Kerang. Known for its agricultural properties and wide-open space, Koonda is an area where many properties sit beyond the reach of the electricity grid, making off grid solar a practical solution for reliable power.
At this Koonda property, the owners were working with an ageing off grid solar system that no longer met their day-to-day requirements. With growing energy demands across the property, the existing system needed to be replaced.
After a thorough assessment, the existing off grid solar system was identified for full replacement to better suit the property’s current and future demands. MyEnergy designed and delivered a complete off grid solar system, with the system built within an existing room in the shed. It is centred around a Victron MultiPlus-II 48/10000/140-100 inverter, providing 10kVa of inverter capacity, paired with 20.48kWh of ZYC Energy battery storage housed in a ZYC SIMPO Cab4 battery cabinet.
The full 10.45kW solar array was installed on the shed, replacing the existing panels. A combination of the Schletter roof mounting system and Clenergy railing was used, allowing all panels to be accommodated within the available roof space while improving solar yield through better positioning. Solar input is managed by a Victron SmartSolar MPPT RS 450/200-MC4, with system monitoring handled through a Victron Cerbo GX, giving the owners clear visibility over system performance.
