Located in the Adelaide Hills, Oakbank is surrounded by farmland, rural properties and agricultural businesses. For farms with growing power requirements, upgrading an existing electricity supply and adding solar and battery storage can provide greater capacity while reducing reliance on grid power. Where suitable roof space is limited or unavailable, ground mounted solar panels provide the flexibility to install a larger solar array in a suitable location on the property.
For this project, MyEnergy worked with the owners of a farm in Oakbank to increase the power capacity available across their home, agricultural and workshop operations and provide blackout protection in a regional area.
The property had an existing grid connection, which was being upgraded to an 80 amp three-phase supply. Coinciding with this upgrade, MyEnergy designed and delivered a 60.8kW ground mounted solar installation with 120kWh of Deye battery storage, connecting the new system to the upgraded grid supply.
With no suitable roof space available for the required solar capacity, a dedicated ground mounted solar array was planned, allowing the system to make use of available ground space that was closer to the new main switch board.
The installation began with our in-house team using MyEnergy’s GAYK pile driving machine to establish the foundations for the S-Rack Ground Mount System, followed by the construction of the mounting structure and installation of 60.8kW of JA Solar panels. The entire ground mount process was completed by our in-house team.
The ground mounted solar panels were then integrated with a 120kWh Deye High Voltage All In One C&I Battery Cabinet, combining the inverter and battery storage within a single commercial and industrial unit.
Our in-house team managed the project from pile driving and ground mounted solar panel installation through to system integration and commissioning, providing one coordinated installation from start to finish.
This Oakbank project demonstrates how ground mounted solar and battery storage can work alongside an upgraded grid connection to provide additional power capacity for homes, farms and workshops.
Rather than separating the pile driving, ground mount, solar and battery installation between multiple contractors, our in-house team managed the complete process. From driving the piles and installing the S-Rack ground mount system and 60.8kW solar array through to integrating and commissioning the 120kWh Deye battery system with the property’s upgraded 80 amp three-phase grid supply, each stage was coordinated as one project.
The result is a larger, more capable power system designed around the property’s home, agricultural and workshop power requirements, with solar generation and battery storage working alongside the upgraded grid connection.
