It’s always exciting to follow a customer's journey from the very beginning, especially when it involves a unique and challenging project. We first met this customer at our stand at the Tiny Homes Expo this year. At the time, they were in the process of completing their tiny home build and were seeking advice on the power requirements needed for their off-grid lifestyle. The location they chose for their tiny home was in the remote Flinders Ranges, in a town called Saltia, which has a population of just 10 people!
The Challenge: Off-Grid Power For A Tiny Home In A Tiny Town
Being in such a small and remote town with no connection to the power grid, the challenge was to create a reliable, stable off-grid power system capable of efficiently meeting the energy needs of a tiny home. Reliability was key, especially considering the lack of nearby shops and services, if the power goes out, there would be no quick fix. The system had to be self-sufficient and dependable for everyday living.
With MyEnergy Engineering's years of experience in powering tiny homes, we were confident in our ability to create a tailored solution. The goal was to design and install an efficient, reliable system that would seamlessly integrate with the customer's needs and provide the peace of mind they required for their remote lifestyle.
The Solution: An Off-Grid System Tailored to a Tiny Home
The MyEnergy team designed and built a reliable off-grid power system in a cabinet offsite, which was then seamlessly installed on location. The cabinet protects the system from harsh environmental conditions and vermin, it is compact yet spacious enough to allow for easy future expansion.
This off-grid solution includes 3.32kW of solar panels, a 10.65kWh battery storage system, an inverter and a solar charge controller, all integrated into an easy-to-use cabinet setup. The energy storage is designed to provide a steady power supply, while the inverter and charge controller are selected to meet the tiny home’s energy demands, ensuring that all essential systems, lighting, heating and appliances operate smoothly.
System Features:
Victron Multiplus-II 48/5000
Victron SmartSolar MPPT RS 450/100
3.32kW Trina Vertex Solar
10.65kWh Pylontech Batteries
With MyEnergy Engineering's expertise in powering tiny homes, the system was efficiently designed and installed for a seamless setup, ensuring maximum reliability. The off-grid solution provides consistent power and is scalable, allowing for future expansion if energy needs increase.
