While the location is ideal for those seeking space, great fishing spots and outdoor activities, limited grid access makes powering properties a challenge. For many in the area, a stand alone power system is the most practical and reliable solution for off-grid living.
Reliable Power for a Recreational Block
A property owner purchased land in Foul Bay with an existing shed but no power connection. With sweeping views across to Kangaroo Island, the block is intended as a recreational getaway. The shed is used to store the boat and is being renovated and repurposed for accommodation use during visits. To make the most of the site, the owner needed a dependable energy source to support lighting, refrigeration, heating, cooling, EV charging and varying energy demands typical of weekend stays.
Scalable Stand Alone Power System for Off-Grid Weekends
A tailored stand alone power system was designed and installed to meet the unique demands of the property, where energy use fluctuates between short stays and extended visits. Prebuilt, tested and certified at MyEnergy HQ in a sleek, slimline cabinet, the system was delivered fully assembled to site for fast and precise installation.
The system includes 10.56kW of solar panels on the shed roof using the Schletter mounting system, a Victron MultiPlus-II inverter, 15.36kWh of ZYC Energy battery storage, and Victron’s SmartSolar Charge Controller with Cerbo GX for efficient management and remote monitoring. A Victron EV Charging Station was also installed for convenient on-site EV charging. The system is scalable, making it easy to expand if energy needs grow, such as adding a home or further infrastructure to the property.
