Fisher is an outlying part of South Australia, while it's only around two hours out of Adelaide, the landscape quickly becomes rugged and unforgiving, creating a real sense of isolation. The area is known for its wide-open farming land and off-grid living. It’s also home to the Yookamurra Sanctuary, a private conservation reserve dedicated to protecting native wildlife and preserving the region’s natural environment.
With no access to the electricity grid and limited infrastructure nearby, properties in Fisher need to be fully self-sufficient. For the owners of this rural block, that meant relying entirely on off-grid power to run their home and support their agricultural work.
A Power System Past Its Prime
The original power system that was on the property had seen better days. It was inefficient, unreliable and struggling to meet daily demands, a serious issue when you're living and working far from town. The owners needed a dependable off-grid power setup they could trust and that’s when they called in MyEnergy Engineering.
A Smart, Scalable Off-grid Power Solution
The old off-grid power system was removed and MyEnergy designed and installed a new, tailored off-grid power system, built to deliver consistent, reliable energy every day, with the flexibility to grow alongside the property’s future needs.
The new setup features 36 JA Solar panels mounted on the shed roof using a Schletter mounting system. At the heart of the system is a Victron MultiPlus-II inverter, supported by smart components including the Victron SmartSolar Charge Controller, Cerbo GX and GX Touch 70 for real-time system monitoring and control. To ensure the power stays on day and night, 24kWh of scalable Pylontech lithium batteries were installed in a dedicated battery room. This provides ample storage capacity and makes future expansion easy as energy demands increase.
All equipment was installed in a small shed near the water tanks, where the original system had been located. A cable tray connects the system to the battery room, keeping the layout clean and making future upgrades straightforward.
