Set against the iconic backdrop of Silverton, New South Wales, Belmont Station operates deep in the heart of Australia’s outback. This rugged region famed for its dramatic desert landscapes, cinematic history including the original Mad Max film and the iconic Mundi Mundi Plains Bash music festival, is as remote as it is unmistakably Australian. With no access to the electricity grid, reliable power is vital to keep the station running.
Off-Grid Power System for a Working Property
Belmont Station is a fully operational goat and sheep farming property, where dependable energy is essential for everything from residential needs to daily farm operations. The property had recently added a new dwelling that would require an independent power supply, prompting the station to seek a more self-reliant energy solution. With a goal of reducing reliance on diesel generators, the station turned to MyEnergy for an off-grid power system purpose-built for life off the grid.
A Practical Solution, Built Off-Site
MyEnergy designed, prebuilt, tested and certified the off-grid system at MyEnergy HQ to ensure a smooth rollout and reliable performance upon arrival. Built into a sleek, slimline cabinet that is weather and vermin-proof, the system was engineered for durability, ease of transport and protection in remote and harsh environments. The cabinet was placed alongside the newly built dwelling that it’s providing power for, allowing easy access while maintaining a low visual profile
The solar array comprising of 24 Jinko Tiger panels, with a total capacity of 10.56kW, was roof-mounted on the new dwelling using a Schletter Mounting System. Power flows through a 10kVA Victron MultiPlus-II 48/10000 inverter, supported by 20.48kWh of ZYC SIMPO lithium battery storage to deliver reliable, around-the-clock power. A Victron SmartSolar MPPT RS 450/200-MC4 and Cerbo GX provide advanced monitoring and control, while an Outreach generator ensures dependable backup when needed.

Off-grid Power Where the Grid Won’t Go
Designed for resilience, this system delivers stable, around-the-clock power for this new dwelling. The generator now serves only as a backup during prolonged overcast weather or high energy demand, dramatically cutting down fuel costs and maintenance.
With smart monitoring via the Victron Cerbo GX, MyEnergy can remotely check performance, troubleshoot if necessary and ensure continued system health, critical for properties where support isn’t just down the road.
In one of Australia's most isolated and visually striking regions, Belmont Station now runs on reliable off-grid power, built for the demands of rural life and the future of the station.
