Mount Barker, one of South Australia's fastest-growing regional centers, offers all the conveniences of modern living, with homes all connected to the grid. However, with rising electricity costs, many homeowners are looking for ways to reduce their reliance on the grid, lower their energy expenses and gain greater control over their power supply. One such homeowner wanted to take the next step toward energy independence by upgrading their existing solar system with increased storage capacity.
Transitioning to a More Efficient Home Solar System
The property owner already had a solar power system in place but wanted to expand its capabilities to remove reliance on the grid. The goal was to install a system that could store enough energy to cover household demand while ensuring reliable blackout protection in case of grid outages. Additionally, the system was relocated to the Main Switchboard (MSB) instead of the existing shed setup so that the house circuits could provide blackout protection in case of a grid dropout.
Customising a Home Solar System for Maximum Efficiency
The MyEnergy team removed the previous system and designed a reliable grid-connected power solution featuring an 8kW Deye Hybrid Inverter to efficiently manage solar generation and battery storage. The system includes 28 roof-mounted Jinko Tiger solar panels on the existing shed and four ZYC SIMPO battery units, providing 20.48kWh of dependable energy storage.
System Specifications
Solar Capacity: 12.32kW Jinko Tiger Solar Panels
Inverter Size: 8kW Deye Hybrid Inverter
Battery Storage: 20.48kWh ZYC SIMPO Batteries
