Penwortham is a small, historic township in the heart of South Australia's Clare Valley wine region. Surrounded by vineyards, native bushland and the Skilly Hills, Penwortham sits along the scenic Horrocks Highway. Known for its productive farmland and reliable climate, it’s a practical choice for those looking to live and work on the land with a bit more space.
A Self-Sufficient Off-Grid Power System
Due to the remote nature of Penwortham and the lack of any available grid connection, this property owner required a fully off-grid solution. The system needed to be reliable, able to support day-to-day energy demands, and allow for future expansion, along with integration to the existing Kubota GL9000 generator on site for back up. Designed to power both residential needs and agricultural operations, the system had to deliver consistent performance year-round.
Tailored DC Coupled Off-Grid Power System
MyEnergy delivered a single-phase DC coupled off-grid power system designed to meet current and future energy needs. This system charges the batteries directly using DC power from the solar array before converting it to AC, improving overall efficiency and simplifying operation, ideal for remote and rural sites.
The 10.56kW Jinko Solar array was installed as a ground mount system using the S-Rack Ground Mount System, selected for its strength in agricultural settings. The power system features a 10kVA Victron Quattro inverter, Victron components including the Cerbo GX and GX Touch 70 and 20.48kWh of ZYC SIMPO lithium batteries, all housed in the shed for protection and easy access. The existing Kubota GL9000 generator was also integrated into the DC coupled off-grid power system to provide automatic backup when needed. Designed for both residential and agricultural use, this setup delivers reliable, long-term performance with full remote monitoring.
