Dumosa is a small farming area in Victoria’s north west, located near Swan Hill. It has remained focused on agriculture despite growth in surrounding regional centres. Known for its open landscapes and productive ground, the region now supports cropping and livestock operations.
This project came together as part of a brand new home and 21m x 7m shed build on a working farm in Dumosa. With everything just completed, it made sense to get the solar and battery system right from the beginning rather than adding it later. While the property has a grid connection, the owner’s goal was simple, run day to day on their own power and keep the grid there as backup.
With rising electricity costs and feed in tariffs continuing to drop, exporting energy was not part of the plan. Instead, this solar and battery system was designed to generate, store and use power on site, supporting both the home and farm without relying on the grid under normal conditions.
Battery storage sits at 30.72kWh, made up of 6 ZYC Energy battery units housed in an outdoor cabinet, with three batteries per cabinet. The solar and battery system has also been designed with flexibility in mind, if loads shift over time, there is the option to rebalance between phases, move battery capacity, or upgrade inverter capacity to better suit full home backup.

A Solar and Battery System for the Long Term
MyEnergy designs and installs award winning solar and battery systems for residential, commercial and agricultural properties across Australia. For this Dumosa property, installing a solar and battery system as part of the new build meant the owner could start with a setup that suits how the property actually runs. With over 30kWh of battery storage, the system supports day to day operation as if off grid, while still keeping the grid there as backup when needed.
