Off-grid Power for a Rural Property in Muskerry, Victoria.

Written by MyEnergy Engineering | Mar 19, 2026

Muskerry is a rural locality in central Victoria, located around 20 kilometres north of Bendigo. Known for its agricultural properties, the area offers the space many landowners are seeking when building new homes and sheds. However, these larger rural blocks are often located well beyond practical grid connection points. For many property owners in Muskerry, installing a dedicated off-grid power system is the most practical way to secure reliable electricity from the start.

New Build Off-Grid Power Requirements

At this rural Muskerry property, the owners had recently completed construction of a large agricultural shed that will support the early stages of the property’s development, including the build of their future home while also serving as a workshop and base for future agricultural activities. Located well beyond practical grid connection, the property required a dependable off-grid power system capable of running construction equipment, workshop tools and daily energy use from day one, while also being designed to scale as the home build progresses and the property’s off-grid power requirements grow.

Off-Grid Power Solution

MyEnergy remotely designed the off-grid power system using the client’s shed layout and expected usage requirements. The installation was built on a dedicated power wall inside the shed, creating a central location for the property’s off-grid power equipment. The system is built around two Victron MultiPlus-II 48/15000/200-100 inverters paired with 51.2kWh of ZYC SIMPO lithium batteries housed in a ZYC SIMPO Battery Cabinet 10, providing dependable off-grid power storage.

The new shed roof supports 20.68kW of Aiko Solar panels mounted using a Schletter roof mount system, with solar input managed by two Victron SmartSolar MPPT RS 450/200-MC4 charge controllers. System monitoring is handled through a Victron Cerbo GX and GX Touch 70, with an SMA Sunny Boy 6kW inverter also integrated into the off-grid power system.

For backup, a diesel generator is connected to the system, ensuring reliable off-grid power during periods of high demand or low solar production.
